The
History of Drop the Beat
Since 1991, “Drop the Beat”, San Antonio’s only
music video show, has been a unique force in the music industry.
Drop the Beat brought you exclusive raw interviews with notorious
B.I.G. before he signed on with Bad Boy Records and made music history.
Eazy-E made an appearance on Drop the Beat just a month before his
tragic death. We were getting crazy with Cypress Hill before people
knew it was alright to be “Insane in the Membrane”.
That is why Drop the Beat is “San Antonio’s Original
Source for Urban Music Information”.
Executive producer and former host Ron Hernandez (A.K.A. Rocketron)
brought you exciting new artists like Warren G, Kriss Kross, DJ
Quik, Scarface and Eminem. With in-depth personal interviews he
brought the artist to you in a unique and down to earth way. Rocketron
asks the questions you as a fan want to know the answers to. Keeping
real… keeping it fresh.
Drop the Beat has been nominated for several prestigious awards
including, Billboard Music Video Award’s “Best Local/Regional
Show” for three years in a row. Rocketron himself has been
nominated for several individual awards. By working closely with
record labels such as; Rap-A-Lot, Virgin, Interscope, No Limit,
Tommy Boy and Bad Boy Records just to name a few, Rocket brought
you breaking news and assisted in promoting up and coming artists.
For this Drop the Beat and Rocketron are know and acknowledged through
out the business as a unique driving force in the urban music industry.
Drop The Beat will continue to be your source for the latest music
news on a local, national and international spectrum. The future
is bright and we are excited about our new format and aggressive
approach to bringing you the most current music news that is sure
to be a hit. So stay tuned and thank you for your continued support.
Sincerely,
Rocketron
